Unspoken Ministry

Unspoken Worship Ministry is a sign language ministry that ministers the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the deaf and hearing-impaired community through fellowship and worship. The ministry is made up of two sections, namely sign language and the mime.

Sign Language

Sign language is a language that uses a system of manual, facial, and other body movements as the means of communication.

Mime

Mime is a performance using gestures and body movements without words.

Outline:

  • Purpose/Mission: It is the purpose of the Unspoken Ministry (Interpreters) to interpret the word of God through songs, prayers, mime, scripture readings and any other information regarding the body of Christ. As the interpreters of spoken language, who were inspired by God, we strive to connect to the deaf and hearing-impaired within the church body, the community, around Jamaica and around the world.
  • Meeting: The Unspoken Worship Ministry meets once per week (Sunday at 4:00pm unless otherwise notified) at the PHCC Worship Centre. At these meetings we would conduct Sign Language and Mime classes or a rehearsing for a presentation.
  • Outreach: The Unspoken Worship Ministry hosts and supports diverse events such as productions, outdoor fellowships, witnessing, bible studies, visitations and the like, for the deaf and hearing-impaired members of the church, community, Jamaica and the world at large.

To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. (1 Corinthians 9:22 (NIV))
